Hello and a warm welcome.

Julia qualified as an Aromatherapist with the London School of Aromatherapy in 1992 and has been working in complementary Health Therapy since then.

My aim is to help individuals improve health and wellbeing and to face challenges with confidence.

Personal Profile

Complementary therapy led me from a background in hospitality/customer service to running my own business. As one of the first aromatherapists in the area I was soon teaching aromatherapy, in Halifax, Bradford and Dewsbury.

My roots of teaching yoga probably stemmed from realising the importance of regular exercise whilst training with the Yorkshire School of Ballet, which I did up until discovering yoga. I teach Dru yoga because I found this the most beneficial style personally. Currently I hold classes for all levels and abilities in Halifax, and run an annual retreat in the Lakes.

When I am not doing therapy sessions at The Still Room, I teach Dru yoga at DW Sports and Fitness Centre in Halifax and work as an Holistic Therapist at The Beauty Room, Holdsworth House hotel.

Mission statement

It is my desire to be active in making a difference in the community, encouraging individuals to take more responsibility for their health and well being.

Dru yoga has many facets, in my yoga class the focus is on three main areas:

Exercise (hatha) movement
Breathing (pranayama) life force
Relaxation (nidra) conscious sleep

All levels of fitness are welcome, just a willingness to have a go is needed. The emphasis is on self awareness and working with what you have. A sense of humour can be a boon!

Yoga has given me strength in my life when everything around me was falling apart. The yoga class can be nurturing to spirit and soul, a safe place to be one's self in a non-competitive environment.
